Journey | A Safe Landing

Three year old Journey’s story is a familiar one–when very young children come into the family, it’s often not a good combination for the children or the dog. Young Wires can be excessively energetic, in need of exercise and possess a strong prey-drive. Journey started to be pestered by two young boys, a one- and three-year-old. The environment, in her owner’s words, was “not feeling safe.”

Due to these circumstances, Journey’s family made the difficult decision, just before the holidays, to rehome their cherished Wire. It was clear that Journey had been deeply loved and well-cared for and the family was very concerned that Journey be placed in a home where she would be given lots of affection and attention, and feel safe.

Luckily, Kimi was waiting in the wings. She had reached out to us after losing her beloved Wire, Ross. Though grieving, she hoped there was a Wire she could help and that, once again, she could experience the love, companionship and joy a Wire can bring. Kimi enjoyed several Wires through the years and truly understands their needs and special spirit. Everyone agreed that Kimi was the perfect match.

And Journey? She’s enjoying undivided attention and being spoiled everyday in her forever home–belly rubs, adventures, walks and love. No more being pestered!
