Zeus | A Daughter with Disabilities Forces A Surrender
Handsome and sweet, Zeus was given up by his family when he was eight-years-old. Though they loved him very much, they had a daughter with disabilities who required much help and attention. She needed frequent medical appointments so the family had to leave Zeus alone for extended periods of time.
As much as it hurt them, they knew that Zeus deserved better. Tracy, one of ATRA’s most recent volunteers, fell in love with Zeus just from his picture and was determined to welcome him into her home to join her five-year-old Wire, Tommy. Both boys are easy going so they have become buddies and fellow adventurers.
No more sitting alone in a room for Zeus! He and Tommy go everywhere – the beach, the mountains, shopping and walking in the neighborhood and parks. Because of Zeus’s circumstances, ATRA partnered with Tracy to help with his veterinary expenses. Zeus hadn’t been to the vet in some time so an appointment was immediately made to have him checked as ATRA does with all rescues.
Fortunately, during the routine exam it was discovered that Zeus had bladder stones requiring immediate surgery. He recovered just fine. However, to prevent stones from forming in the future, Zeus eats a prescription diet which ATRA provides. Zeus is relishing the attention and love that Tracy gives him. He is very affectionate and endearing. But watch out if you turn on the hose to water the garden! Zeus turns into a maniac!
